Distant Shores

Those signs that we once saw on distant shore,
That signaled helping hand and open door
Today these flags may have been lowered there,
Yet we will know their colours evermore.

This is a place to read about those who came before us, for these are the people who made FOTW what it is today, and helped determine what it will become; they should be remembered. Hopefully, in the end, FOTW will outlast us all.

A Message from the List Master - 31 January 2011

The "History of FOTW" page contains a lot of information about the impressive (hopefully never-ending) growth and achievements of the FOTW community. We also have a page dedicated to the "Vexillologist of the Year." But these pages, while reflecting the dynamics of the community, ignore the other side of our life, that is its finiteness. I believe that Jarig, Ron, Andries, Devereaux, Raul and other friends of us who have met the Grim Reaper (not to mention those who have left us without even being noticed), deserve being remembered by us and introduced to our visitors. That is the purpose of these Memorial pages. May the Grim Reaper take some rest and stay away from our community.
Ivan Sache (Listmaster Emeritus 2008-2011) Versailles, France
